it's a nice sunny day here in oakland. there's a small poodle curled up in a ball, to my left. and a nice view of the oakland skyline to my right...
today was a little unproductive, waiting to hear about apartments and jobs. this apartment search is proving brutal. i don't think there are enough rooms in the city to accommodate all who are looking.. but i'll persevere.

the city of hills..

wow. san francisco has some hills. yesterday and today i experienced quite a few.
yesterday i went to bernal heights to take a look at a couple of apartments. i had a couple of hours to kill in between appointments so i took my bike and curved through some streets. i started kinda at the top and made my way around, all the while going down hill. i conveniently forgot that going down means you eventually have to go back up... so after my easy ride down i had to get off the bike and walk what felt like a 45 deg. angle back up. for blocks and blocks. it did a work out on my legs. but in a good way. keeping me healthy!
today i had to go to noe valley. i took the bart, and got off at 24th and mission. then got on a bus that took me up to noe valley. then i had a few blocks to walk to get to my destination. piece of cake i thought. i had to walk to the top of castro st. to reach duncan st. also felt like that was as steep as it gets.. but amazing views everywhere you turn. faced with the steepest of hills, one finds it hard to really complain when the weather is amazing and the views of the city are something else..

tuxedos...

hello. i'm trying to be better about posting..
it's not a very good picture but today i wore my tux. i had a training at Paula LeDuc today and we had to go dressed in our best. i didn't realise how uncomfortable those things kinda are. and especially with the waist so high... that's something i'll never get used to.
but it's worth it to look dapper every once in a while.
tomorrow is a busy afternoon of trooping around the city. maybe i'll get out and ride my bike too.

hello.

today i played tourist with my friend ty, and we took the ferry from oakland to the embarcadero. we walked around a bit, ate some crab, and saltwater taffy, and had a glass of wine.
the ferry is a great way to get from the east bay to san fran. it's nice to spoil yourself. it's about double what you'd pay on the bart, but totally worth it once in a while.
so after being here for almost 3 weeks, i'm still finding the housing situation a bit frustrating, and the job hunt is a little slow too. I did find a job working for Paula LeDuc catering, and they are very cool. check them out here
i'm not sure how much work i'll get out of that though, so i'm continuing to look elsewhere as well.
good news on the button front though. i have my buttons in a couple of places now. firstly, this cute little store called urban indigo, which is located on lakeshore avenue in oakland. and needles + pens, which is located at 3253 16th Street, San Francisco. I'm also hoping to get my pirate themed buttons into 826 valencia but i'm waiting to hear word from them.. good things though for my little button biz!
this city is cool and there are many things to do here! i'll try and post more regularly about what i'm getting up to..

free bluegrass?

there a free bluegrass festival in golden gate park in a couple of weekends. oct 5, 6 7...
